Loyola Campus Revitalization Complete with Opening of Halas Recreation Center

Wednesday, July 9, 2014 - 12:30

After 10 years of construction with Power, a $400 million campus transformation is substantially complete with a ribbon cutting ceremony on the newly opened 64,000 sf Halas Recreation Center. Loyola students, faculty and staff celebrated the event with project team members from Power, Solomon Cordwell Buenz & Associates, and Cotter Consulting. Alvin Gorman, Chairman of Power, enjoyed the event with Father Michael Garanzini, President of Loyola University; “Having originally constructed Halas Hall in 1975, Power is honored to have helped transform the building for today’s students needs.” Incoming students this August will enjoy a new aquatics center, cardiovascular and weight training area, locker rooms, café, and student lounge. It was a challenging project for Bob Meyer, Superintendent for Power; “With construction access limited to one gate in the middle of campus, every worker was trained and to protect the 9,000+ students and faculty impacted by this project for 15 months.”
