Started working construction part-time in 1996. Over the next several years, I worked five different part-time / internship gigs. Joined Power full-time after graduating from Purdue. In construction, I get the opportunity to see the final transformation of the countless components of a building into a product to be utilized by society. Knowing that a project I helped to build will likely remain past my lifetime is very satisfying. Beyond Power, I enjoy basketball, golf & snow skiing.Email Me! I started working construction when I was 17 as a laborer for my father's company in Green Bay. Over the next several years did a combination of 2 internships and some summer jobs. Chose Power after graduating from MSOE in 2006. The fact that we are able to take a drawing and make it into something that people use everyday is very satisfying. Best part of this business is dealing with new and different problems and challenges every day. The fact that I get to be a part of that and help solve them is exciting. Beyond Power, love playing hockey (21 years), boating, and hunting.Email Me! Carl Brown: Superintendent | Bradley University | Hired in 2002
Started working construction part-time in 1996. Had four internships, three with other companies... one with Power. Chose Power coming out of Bradley. I see construction as having an office without walls. Everyday is a new challenge. Best part of this business is passing by a completed project and knowing that I played a part in its existence. Beyond Power, it’s all about golf, travel, and the Chicago Cubs!Email Me! Kim Carpenter: Senior Project Manager | Concordia University | Hired in 2001
Started full-time as an apprentice carpenter back in 1992. Came to Power after enjoying the California life for a while. A sense of contribution to the community and the individuals in this business drives my passion for construction. Also see this business as a creative outlet. There are a million opportunities to do something right, do a great job, figure something out... When the job is complete there is a concrete testament, an actual monument, of the team’s success. Beyond Power, my interests lie in personal growth & development... training myself and others, home remodeling, and travel.Email Me! I started doing construction in 1997. Had four part-time roles, including internships, prior to going full-time. To me, building a project involves many challenging processes. In the end, I can take pride in knowing that I helped build it. Hard work up front always pays off! Beyond Power, it’s the bass guitar, travel, camping, hiking, and canoeing.Email Me! Mary Collins: Project Engineer | Marquette University | Hired in 2006
First job in construction was 2003... did one internship with a civil engineering firm and four semesters in a co-op with a GC. Came to Power upon graduation. Construction is my passion. To be able to be a part of a team and build on a large scale is incredible. It’s also fulfilling that the end result is something that people are going to use. Beyond Power, it’s traveling, playing or watching sports and hanging out with friends. Email Me! Chris Erickson: Project Manager | University of Illinois | Hired in 2004
Started as a part-time laborer in high school. In addition to early construction involvement, got part-time experience with the City of Champaign engineering department, a structural engineering internship, and a co-op. Went to a national GC after graduation then chose Power. I enjoy the challenge of construction planning and execution... and the tangible results. Best part of this business is the team environment and the ever-changing dynamics. Beyond Power, like to spend time outside camping, canoeing, fishing, etc... Also enjoy rehabbing at home.Email Me! Jeff Geier: Project Executive | Iowa State University | Hired in 2000
Did two internships starting in 1988; one out of town and one in Chicago. Came to Power after working for a national GC. Being part of a team that transforms a customer’s thoughts and needs into a real building is why construction is my passion. Also, every project is a new experience and the learning process never ends. Actually, the best part of this business is the people that we work with… can't think of another business that has such a great mix of characters and down to earth people. Beyond Power, it’s fishing, time with my two boys, and golf.Email Me! Ryan Gibson: Assistant Superintendent | Southern Illinois University | Hired in 2005
Started working part time construction framing houses in my home town at the age of 16. Did three internships, two with Power. My passion has always been construction; it started from working with my hands and tackling the issues in the details. Best aspect of what I do is to help create a finished product in which we can take pride. Beyond Power, I enjoying boxing and hanging out with friends.Email Me! Tim Giegerich: Superintendent | Bradley University | Hired in 2002
Summer of 2000 was my first internship. Did two more after that... all with Power. Stayed with Power after graduation. In construction, I get to take something that starts as just earth and transform it to a fully operational building. Years later, it is very rewarding to drive past a building that you were a part of creating. Best part of this business is generating relationships with co-workers, subcontractors, vendors, owners, architects, and engineers on a daily basis. Beyond Power... it's my marriage, scuba diving, and soccer.Email Me! Chris Goray: Senior Project Manager | Bradley University | Hired in 2000
First job in construction was ’87. Had two internships prior to going full-time. Came to Power after being with a large national GC for a number of years. Every day presents a new challenge... coordinating the various labor and material requirements needed to take an architect’s plan from concept to completion. For me, the best part of being in this business is the pride that comes from being a part of the finished building. Beyond Power, it’s all about fishing, golf, and time with family and friends. First year working construction part-time was 2004. Had an AE/CM double major at MSOE plus two internships with other companies. Chose Power in 2007 after traveling for a couple years with a national construction firm. I first came into the construction industry wanting to learn to build so that I could eventually be a better designer. The day I realized my passion for construction was on a day when I had to help someone else decide if he wanted to pursue a construction career. I pointed at this hotel tower in Las Vegas and said, “see that building... the superstructure and skin went up in 1 year. Does that impress you?” At that moment, as he looked at me with a blank and indifferent stare, I realized how much it did impress me. So, here I am. Best part of this business is that I never feel like I am working, just simply solving problems and making things happen. Beyond Power, I love to travel, try new foods, learn guitar and swim.Email Me! Ryan Gusewelle: Senior Project Manager | Bradley University | Hired in 1996
Worked for my father's excavation business during high school starting in 1988. Did a co-op my Junior year in college. Chose Power coming out of Bradley. I love the challenge of building – taking a set of plans, a team of people, and seeing it come together as a project. Building gives you a real sense of accomplishment because when the project is complete, you can experience the end result. I also enjoy the relationship aspect of the business – working with owners, architects and subcontractors on not only a business level, but also on a personal level. Beyond Power... it’s all about riding motorcycles, boating and camping with family & friends. Email Me! Steve Jackson: Senior Project Manager | University of Illinois | Hired in 2004
1994 was the year I first started working construction part-time. Had one summer in a related field and then did two full internships. Came to Power after about 10 years with another major GC in Chicago. Construction is my passion because it is full of change, challenge and constant learning. The personal pride I feel in looking at completed projects is remarkable. Yet, the best part of this business is working with a variety of people of different backgrounds trying to achieve a common goal. Beyond Power, it’s family, travel, and sports.Email Me! I started in high school working in the millwork department at Menard's and continued working there throughout college. I worked with doors, windows, trim, designed kitchens, etc. My family also built our house when I was growing-up. It was a constant up-grade project that I worked on with my dad and brother throughout high school and college, as well. I started with Power two days after receiving my Bachelors of Science degree (pre-med). I had a passion to study science, but realized I love doing construction. My favorite thing about construction is helping the project progress from a hole in the ground to a magnificently detailed structure. Working with all the different tradesmen, as well as the building owners and architects, develops relationships that are far-reaching. Off hours, I play tennis and swim. I love to bake; cake decorating has become a recent passion. Email Me! Paul Meyer: Superintendent | Iowa State University | Hired in 2003
Started working construction in 2000. Went on to have three full internships, two with other companies, one with Power. Chose Power coming out Iowa State. Nothing is more rewarding or exciting than taking an open field and creating a building that will be used for years to come. For me, the best part of this business is that everyday provides different challenges and experiences and some days you never know what to expect. Beyond Power, it’s hockey, fishing, and golf. My first year of construction was 1998, working part-time for a smaller Chicago-only GC while attending IIT. Also worked for two architecture firms. Started with Power right out of school. Really enjoy seeing and learning new building methods and materials. I also take pleasure in the challenge of looking for creative ways to solve complex issues in the construction process. To me, the best part of this business is being part of a team whose goal is to be the best of the best. Beyond Power, I love sporting events, movies, cooking, and reading.Email Me! Jerome Murphy: Superintendent | Purdue University | Hired in 1999
Began working part-time in construction in 1999 and worked numerous summers in residential construction while in school. Came to Power directly from Purdue University. Love to drive by a completed project and feel the satisfaction of knowing all that it took to get it completed. It’s fun to hear people talking about how projects seem to just fast-forward from putting in the foundations to having the opening day celebrations. Beyond Power, I keep busy with many home remodeling projects and a couple after-work sports teams.Email Me! Dan Porzel: Superintendent | Bradley University | Hired in 2000
Started working construction in 1997. Did three internships, all with different companies... the last of which was with Power. Joined Power after graduation. I love to see results. The tangible results of building are incontestable. Best part of this business for me is seeing the excitement of a new owner as they take over their building, whether it’s an office, school, home, etc. Beyond Power, love playing sports and playing guitar. First year working part-time in construction was the summer before my freshman year in college when I was an electrician’s helper for Local 701 with my father. Also spent two summers with a construction consultant in a chemical plant building a new processing line. Came to Power upon graduating from college. I grew up in a construction family so the tangible aspect of seeing the fruit of your labor has always appealed to me. Construction is my passion because at the end of the day I feel like I am part of something bigger than myself and that my efforts have produced something valuable. Best part is the camaraderie. Beyond Power, it’s working out, golf, and motorcycles.Email Me! Joe Sadauskas: Senior Project Manager | Bradley University | Hired in 1999
First job in construction was as a Residential Framing Carpenter in the mornings while going to school full time in the afternoons and delivering pizza at night. Also worked full time for 3 years with a national GC prior to going back to finish school. While at Bradley I spent a summer as an intern with Power, then came with them after graduation. In Construction, there is no question as to the results of your efforts. At the end of the day – at the end of a project, those results stand before you as a manifestation of the enormous effort involved in the building construction process. It is tremendous reward, knowing that you were part of the team that brought form to the concept that was only lines on paper a year or two before. Beyond Power, it’s my family (wife & 3 sons), sports (golf, baseball, football, skiing, mountain biking, exercise) and food... I love to cook – specifically Mexican food and grilling.Email Me! Starting in 1999 I worked three summers as a laborer for a concrete/excavating subcontractor in my hometown. Then did a summer laboring in a stone quarry and one summer interning for a medium-sized subcontractor. Came to Power after two years at a small GC. I enjoy having the opportunity to watch a building grow from start to finish and in the end feel a sense of accomplishment knowing that I took part in that particular project. In the short time I have been in the business, I have yet to have a day where I am not challenged and I get to learn something new every single day! Beyond Power... its sports, watching movies, spending time with friends and family.Email Me! |
