At Power Construction, our legacy is built through purposeful actions in the communities we serve.
Our "Areas of Impact" guides how we advance community engagement and opportunity across four key areas: workforce development, engagement with the local contractor community, educational outreach and engagement with our internal organization. We believe in creating lasting value by empowering people and businesses to grow alongside our projects.
Local Hire & Workforce Development
We don’t just build neighborhoods—we build careers.
Through local hiring fairs and pre-apprentice partnerships, we connect community members with job training and employment pathways in construction. Our outreach engages experienced tradespeople and provides training opportunities for newcomers, opening doors for adults and students alike.
Power partners with a network of community and workforce development organizations dedicated to increasing access to the lucrative and life-changing career opportunities in the construction industry, such as Revolution Workshop, Chicago Women in Trades, HIRE360, and many more. Together, we nurture a sustainable pipeline of talent, offering mentorship, trades education, and career readiness programs.
Power has become a great support in my goal setting and is making sure that resources are available to allow me to reach them. My experience with Power has been amazing. From the mentoring, the company values, to the tools they have made readily available for me to grow and learn more about my trade and the construction industry, I could not have picked a better company to work for.
Investing in the Next Generation
We believe in opening doors and creating real opportunities for the future leaders of our industry. From scholarships to classroom visits to hands-on training, we’re committed to helping local students and emerging professionals gain the skills, experience, and support they need to thrive in construction careers.
Power Construction awards $10,000 annually to promising students pursuing construction degrees, providing mentorship and career guidance every step of the way. We are proud to have supported 25 candidates to date and are constantly on the look out for our next Power Scholar!
Our Assistant Project Engineer program gives community college students and recent grads a chance to earn while they learn, gaining valuable on-the-job experience as they complete their education.
Plus, we work with dozens of schools all over the Chicagoland area to inspire and prepare young people through career fairs, classroom presentations, curriculum development, and job site visits.
Creating Opportunities for Local, Small Businesses
For over 30 years, Power has championed local, small business enterprises. We facilitate early engagement and outreach events to provide contractors with clear paths to partnership and growth. We work with major Contractor Associations (including Federation of Women Contractors, Hispanic American Construction Industry Association and Black Contractors Owners and Executives) to promote available subcontractor opportunities and continuously meet their new members. In addition, our ongoing mentor-protégé and onboarding programs equip emerging businesses with the tools and relationships needed for long-term success.
