POSITION SUMMARY:

Ideal candidate will have a mechanical or electrical design background with construction estimating experience. Basic knowledge of codes in so far as MEPFP estimating is concerned is desired. Must be a motivated individual looking to join a team atmosphere where both support and accountability allow growth within the department. Must and be able to accurately survey documents, identify system components, build report with MEPFP sub-contractors and level proposals in order to develop accurate MEPFP estimates. Candidate should be conscientious in identifying details that explain and "tell the story" by identifying cost drivers within estimates. Ability to add value by providing design suggestions and appropriate value engineering ideas is highly valued for all MEPFP trades. Candidate should be comfortable presenting estimate deliverables to fellow estimate team members as well as owners.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Review all project drawings for errors, omissions or inconsistencies
• By using traditional cost estimating methods & materials and subcontractor input, provide detailed cost estimates of the MEP systems at designated stages in projects, e.g., schematic phase, design development phase and 50% construction document phase
• Assist in sales presentations when Power’s MEP expertise is a benefit to potential clients
• Suggest cost savings or improvements for MEP systems
• Provide clients with cost analysis of system alternatives
• Manage and guide the bid process for MEP design/build projects
• Review drawings and develop bid analysis sheets for bids
• Occasionally perform MEP quality inspections during construction
• Help superintendents and project managers resolve technical and operational problems with MEP systems
• Help resolve disputes over change order cost

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Technical knowledge required: Building systems knowledge including HVAC systems; electrical systems, including LV systems; plumbing; fire protection; construction management; project/estimate management
• Business Skills required: Teaching and coaching, problem solving, being a team player and supporting other staff, customer orientated, detail oriented, strong written & verbal communication, flexible, multi-tasker
• Computer software skills desired: proficiency in Microsoft Suite; intermediate experience working in WinEst, OST and Revit, preferred

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Four-year degree in Engineering or Construction Management; Mechanical or Electrical preferred
• 10+ years engineering design and construction experience
• Professional Engineer license desired
