POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Accounting Manager role leads the Corporate Accounting department, overseeing financial reporting, month end close, budgeting, internal controls, and treasury functions. Responsibilities include managing staff, ensuring audit readiness, guiding AR/AP processes, optimizing cash flow, and supporting accurate project accounting. The position drives operational integrity, compliance, and continuous improvement across all accounting activities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage the Corporate Accounting department including overseeing core accounting functions and the career development of each member of the corporate accounting team.
• Coordinate the month-end closing procedures and reports.
◦ Prepare and review monthly reports and workpapers.
◦ Prepare and review account analyses, such as burden and insurance.
◦ Review AP, AR, cash, investments, and WIP reconciliations, amongst others.
◦ Review trial balance.
◦ Complete month-end checklist.
◦ Prepare monthly financial statements.
◦ Assist with financial statement analysis.
• Oversee & assist with the preparation of the annual budget.
◦ Review G&A transactions for possible General Ledger reclassification.
◦ Review monthly G&A variance reports and communicate with department heads accordingly.
• Understand & enhance internal controls and financial reporting processes.
• Provide leadership and mentorship within the team.
• Support compliance and audit readiness.
• Manage exceptions within the PA function to ensure proper control of jobs is maintained.
◦ Review aged AR for collection issues and communicate with operations as necessary.
◦ Review aged AP and sub withheld to ensure resolution of issues and timely payment of subcontractors.
◦ Review overbillings and underbillings to maximize overbilled positions and minimize risk.
◦ Review completed jobs to ensure timely and efficient closure.
◦ Review and assist with the accurate and timely completion of project startup.
• Manage weekly cash flow procedures and reporting by coordinating cash outflow with cash received.
• Review treasury function to maximize rate of return and manage liquidity.
• Review & approve AP disbursement amounts.
• Ensure payments are made on time.
• Manage sales & use tax accruals and assist with project team inquiries.
• Assist with completion of the 1099 process.
• Prepare year-end personal auto information.
• Assist with re-establishing beginning balances at the beginning of a new fiscal year.
• Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Four-year accounting degree or equivalent combination of related experience and technical training
• Certified Public Accountant required
• Minimum of five years construction accounting experience

COMPENSATION DETAILS:

Salary Range: $120,000-$140,000
