The Mason brings industrial-modern design to Chicago’s West Loop, featuring 243 residential units with wood-imprinted ceilings, distressed metal backsplashes, floor-to-ceiling windows, and matte black kitchen fixtures. Residents enjoy a range of high-end amenities, including a fitness center, outdoor pool, flexible workspaces, ground-floor social areas, and a rooftop deck equipped with grilling stations and lounge seating—delivering a refined urban living experience.
Sustainable Mechanical Systems & Green Building Design
The Mason incorporates a variable refrigerant flow (VRF) HVAC system, one of the most energy-efficient technologies on the market. Using VDC modeling, the project team coordinated the installation of this complex system, which uses refrigerant as the sole cooling medium, includes inverter compressors and multiple indoor air-handling units, and dynamically adjusts to outdoor conditions for optimal power consumption. This innovation reduces energy use while maintaining consistent interior comfort.
Transit Coordination & Site Safety
Located less than 50 feet from Chicago’s CTA Green Line, the project required close coordination with the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) to ensure ongoing public transit operations throughout construction. With the use of tower crane limit sensors and proactive communication, construction advanced without interruption or safety impact to CTA service.
Green Globe Certification
Recognized for its energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, The Mason achieved Green Globe certification, reinforcing Power’s commitment to high-performance, environmentally responsible building practices.
