Located at 8000 South Lake Shore Drive, the new Advocate South Side Hospital is a 180,000 sf, five-story replacement community hospital advancing healthcare access on Chicago’s South Side. Delivered using a Lean Construction–based Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) approach through a multi-party agreement, the project establishes a highly collaborative framework for design and construction. The facility serves as a key component of Advocate Health’s broader $1 billion investment in the health and wellness of Chicago’s South Side, providing a modern, patient-centered environment to support evolving community needs.

The hospital brings together a full spectrum of care, including a state-of-the-art emergency department, observation services, medical-surgical beds, ICU, operating suites, GI labs, cardiac catheterization lab, imaging, radiology and nuclear medicine, and dialysis, along with essential support spaces. A compact inpatient tower houses 52 beds, designed to enhance staff efficiency while prioritizing patient comfort. The building exterior features contemporary metal panel systems and expansive floor-to-ceiling glazing, complemented by surface parking and a healing garden that supports patient recovery and community connection.
