City/Neighborhood
Chicago – Lincoln Park
Size
1,100,000 sf

The New City mixed-use development, located on an 8.2-acre site in Lincoln Park, features a 19-story residential tower, two retail/entertainment buildings and a 7-story precast parking garage. The 500,000 sf retail space is split between two-story buildings constructed along Halsted Street and Clybourn Avenue. Lead retail tenants include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Arclight Cinemas, and the largest Mariano’s Fresh Market built in Chicago. Our team worked with Mariano's staff to construct a freight elevator capable of conveying up to 14,000 pounds.

Preconstruction Services Influence Key Project Decisions

The Power team provided comprehensive preconstruction services, including:

  • Multiple design charrettes
  • Value engineering exercises
  • Milestone estimating
  • Enclosure systems evaluations
  • Peer design and constructability reviews

All these activities contributed meaningful cost data as the design evolved. We expedited the bidding and award for critical substructure trades to accelerate the start of construction.
