The 3,500 sf renovation of United Hangar 775 included installing a 75-foot-high catwalk along the hangar’s front profile, complete with access stairs, ladders, and an overhead safety-tether fall protection system to support aircraft maintenance in an active environment. The hangar remained fully operational throughout construction, so the team implemented a robust safety integration plan to protect both construction crews and United personnel while allowing work and maintenance activities to proceed concurrently.

Prefabrication and Phased Installation Strategy

To minimize disruption, the project team focused on efficient prefabrication and planning. Catwalk sections were fabricated off-site as much as possible, shop-primed, and then delivered for rapid installation, with final painting completed in the field. This strategy reduced on-site duration, shortened installation time, and allowed daily hangar operations to continue with minimal to no interruption.
