Overcoming Construction Challenges Near Metra Tracks
Building Avidor Evanston presented unique engineering and logistics challenges. During early site investigations, our team uncovered a 25-foot structural wall remaining from a previously demolished building adjacent to the Metra tracks. Given its location within the site and the fast-paced 17-month construction schedule, complete removal would have risked significant delays. Collaborating with structural engineers, we developed an innovative bracing and earth retention system that stabilized the wall safely while keeping the project on schedule — a solution that balanced safety, precision, and efficiency in a dense urban environment.
