Located in the heart of Chicago’s vibrant Lakeview neighborhood, Town Hall Apartments offers modern and affordable housing designed for residents ages 55 and older, with a focus on serving the LGBTQ senior community. The project blends history and innovation by combining the adaptive reuse of the decommissioned Town Hall police station with a new six-story residential structure, creating a welcoming environment where connection and inclusivity thrive.

The thoughtfully designed community features a spacious community room, outdoor patio, and retail space, encouraging social engagement and neighborhood interaction. Residents also enjoy access to supportive services and programs through the Center on Halsted, an LGBTQ community center conveniently located next door—also constructed by Power Construction.

To establish a bright, distinctive presence along Halsted Street, the exterior features vibrant metal panels and punched window openings that reflect the energy and character of the surrounding community.

Quality Is Key

Delivering lasting value was a top priority throughout construction. Our team, together with Power’s Quality Support Manager, constructed on-site window mock-ups to conduct detailed water testing—ensuring a durable, watertight design. We also built a full apartment unit mock-up to review layout, fit, and finishes with the owner, architect, and subcontractor teams, setting clear standards for quality across every residence.
