This 50,000 sf corporate office build-out in Chicago’s historic Merchandise Mart created a modern, flexible workplace featuring demountable office fronts, soft seating areas, huddle spaces, and a boardroom with a movable glass wall. Interior improvements included new drywall, doors and hardware, non-structural drop ceilings, lighting, electrical, millwork, and select finish and furniture upgrades to enhance employee experience and support collaboration.

demountable walls

A key feature of this Merchandise Mart office build-out was the extensive use of demountable walls throughout the space. Partnering closely with the demountable wall provider, our team coordinated detailed layouts and hold-to dimensions early, releasing 40 locations based on precise measurements to manage extended lead times and maintain schedule.

Logistics

Executing construction within a landmarked building and active showroom environment required careful logistics planning. Elevator access, material deliveries, and debris removal were tightly scheduled to minimize disruption to neighboring tenants and showrooms, ensuring a smooth build-out in one of Chicago’s most iconic commercial properties
