Coveting a larger, more collaborative workplace, this prestigious law firm relocated from the 21st to the 61st floor of Willis Tower, trading up to sweeping views of the Chicago skyline. The new office features private offices, workstations, conference rooms, common areas, and training rooms designed to support both focused legal work and team-based collaboration.

Schedule and logistics

Renovating within an occupied Chicago high-rise—especially one of the city’s top tourist attractions undergoing a concurrent $500 million renovation—created significant scheduling and logistics challenges. With ten contractors working throughout the building, a single day saw five separate deliveries take nine hours to reach the 61st floor via freight elevator. The project launched with a 15-day demolition window scheduled at night to maximize elevator access and efficiency. When part of the space was turned over four weeks late, our superintendent re-sequenced the schedule, coordinating dock and freight usage down to the minute and arranging deliveries as early as 3:00 am to keep the fast-track timeline on track and deliver the space on time.
