465 North Park introduces two glass, ellipse-shaped residential towers to Chicago’s Streeterville skyline, delivering signature luxury residences in a highly sought-after neighborhood. The development features 444 apartment units, 10 townhomes, and two rooftop amenity decks, offering expansive views and elevated indoor-outdoor living for residents in downtown Chicago.
A distinctive color-changing LED crown wraps the top of the building, supported by 26 steel columns connected to an intricate catwalk system on the uppermost floor, creating a striking architectural presence day and night.
Advanced structural systems to reduce building movement
This luxury high-rise was only the second building in Chicago at the time built to incorporate a slosh damper tank system designed to minimize building sway in high winds. Inside the tank, 16 specialized fins sit in water and shift in response to strong winds, counteracting southward wind forces and redirecting momentum to the north to reduce the sensation of movement for residents. By using water instead of additional steel to add weight at the top of the structure, the damper tank enhances comfort, performance, and efficiency in this tall residential tower.
