Steps away from Chicago’s Riverwalk and West Loop neighborhood, 71 S Wacker is a 48-story office building with over 1.5M sf of workspace. Working with Irvine Companies, our Workplace Group won the Level 3 demolition of an existing 29,000 sf data center and corporate office. Our team renovated the space to include two tenant suites, shared amenity space, corridors, elevator lobby, and restrooms. The space features custom lighting, battle ceilings, expansive open office, and custom millwork.
A testament of the relationship that our project team built with Irvine Companies and the success of the project, Irvine awarded our team three subsequent projects in the building and we have collaborated on preconstruction pricing exercises for four other levels of the building.
IBM Reconfiguration
IBM partnered with our Power Workplace Group to renovate their spaces at 71 S Wacker. Initially occupying Levels Six and Seven, IBM wished to reconfigure and renovate their space to better suit their needs. During the renovation phase, IBM temporarily relocated to the seventh floor while work was carried out on the sixth floor. After the renovation of the sixth floor was completed, IBM moved into their redesigned space, and demolition began on the seventh floor. Significant coordination efforts were made to minimize downtime for security, telecommunication/data infrastructure, and audio/visual components.
